Getting Started
Install Omivo and run your first two-way interpreting session in a few minutes.
This guide gets you from zero to a working two-way session. It takes about five minutes the first time.
1. Install the extension
Add Omivo from the Chrome Web Store (it also works in Microsoft Edge). After installation, pin the extension so its icon is easy to reach during a call.
2. Choose your two languages
Open Omivo and set the two sides of the conversation:
- You — the language you speak and want to read captions in.
- They — the language the other person speaks.
Omivo interprets between these two anchors. There's no need to set a direction per turn — it follows whoever is speaking.
3. Start an inbound session
Join your meeting as usual, then start Omivo. You'll see live captions for what the other side says, along with a spoken translation. This direction needs no extra setup — it works out of the box.
4. (Optional) Let the other side hear you
To have the other person hear you translated, you'll route Omivo's outbound audio through a virtual microphone and select it as your mic in the meeting app. This is a one-time setup — follow Outbound & virtual microphone.
Tips for a clean session
- Use headphones. This prevents the translated voice from leaking into your mic and being picked up again.
- Speak in complete thoughts. Short, clear phrases translate more accurately than long run-on sentences.
- If something sounds off mid-call, check Troubleshooting.
