Troubleshooting

Fixes for the most common issues: virtual mic not detected, no audio, echo, and latency.

Most issues come down to audio routing. Work through the section that matches your symptom.

The virtual microphone isn't detected

If Omivo or the meeting app can't see the virtual device:

  • Make sure the virtual audio cable installed successfully, and reboot if the installer asked you to.
  • Reopen the meeting app after installing — apps scan for audio devices at startup and may miss a freshly installed one.
  • Confirm the virtual cable is selected both in Omivo's outbound output and as the Microphone in the meeting app.

The other side hears nothing

  • Check that outbound is turned on, not just inbound.
  • Verify the meeting app's microphone is set to the virtual cable, and that the meeting isn't muted.
  • Speak and watch the meeting app's mic level indicator move.

I hear an echo, or my voice loops back

  • Use headphones. Without them, the translated voice plays from your speakers and gets picked up by your mic.
  • Make sure your real microphone — not the virtual cable — is muted in the meeting if you only want the translated voice to go out.

Translation lags behind

  • Close other heavy apps and browser tabs; live translation is CPU-intensive.
  • A wired or strong network connection reduces delay.
  • Speak in shorter phrases; very long sentences take longer to process.

A name or term comes out wrong

Proper nouns and acronyms may not translate cleanly. Briefly switch outbound to original voice passthrough to say them in your own voice, then switch back.
